GRAND PRIZE Winner at the 2012 Scuba Diving International Photo Competition.

Scuba Diving International Photo Competition

The last years I have won many prizes and awards in some of the best competitions around the world, competing with excellent photographers, some of them dear friends, with stunning photographs and new ideas, and for each one of those prizes I am very proud and happy.

This year when I was choosing photographs from my portfolio for the 8th Annual Photo Competition of Scuba Diving Magazine was very confident about my wide angle – close focus seahorse photograph that took this summer in Chalkidiki and somehow I expected to be awarded.

About a month ago the biggest shock was the announcement that I was one of the two finalists for the Grand Prize with the open cave split shot with a diver, not because I like this photograph less, but because I was betting on the seahorse and all this was extremely huge! After some days of keeping my fingers crossed and wishing for the best I received the e-mail with the winning announcement and it was like winning for the first time! Joy, happiness, fulfilment, every positive feeling there is I was full of it, because for me Scuba Diving Magazine has the respect of divers and photographers from all over the globe.
Scuba Diving gives divers in-depth tests and reviews of gear as well as practical advice on training, the environment, and everything from the newest emerging destinations to hidden gems in their own backyards. In each issue, ScubaLab tests the most cutting-edge equipment to keep readers comfortable and safe in the water with the latest information given on training, the ocean environment and the hot-button topics affecting divers, all of which makes Scuba Diving the magazine “for divers who live to dive.”
Worth to mention that I didn’t lose the bet completely as the seahorse photograph took 3rd place in Macro Category! Now I am so pleased to plan a dream to come true of a 7days liveaboard trip to Bahamas!
