The photograph I chose for my participation was one of my favorites of a recent shooting I made back in November, when I was tasked with photographing a team of female water polo players for their annual calendar.
The concept was to frame the subjects draped in florescent cloth dresses and light makeup to accentuate their femininity against a stark black background which is not the typical water polo shot. Of all twelve girls, it was polo player Anna who impressed me most with her serenity and smoothness in the water and her comfort to pose over and over again. She had the longest breath holds, but at the same time the most calm and relaxed facial expression. The fact that she once was a ballet dancer greatly helped her in forming a contoured shape and hand positions as only a dancer could.
For the winning photograph a behind the shot article was published in Dive Photo Guide website with all details about the concept, the technique and the used equipment.
I want to thank the all star team of judges for selecting my photograph and DPG team for the award of a free subscription to Scuba Diver-Through the Lens magazine. I wish to all contestants, all the best.
